New publication out - Special Issue on Cognitive Aging

Two years in the making, and now finally out. Together with Dr. Giulia Tattarini and Dr. Damiano Uccheddu, Ariane has guest-edited a special issue in Social Science in Medicine titled "Understanding cognitive ageing: individuals, institutions, and inequalities". The special issue aims at shedding a sociological perspective on an increasing public health and societal challenge and highlights the risk and protective factors for cognitive functioning in later life across various levels and domains. In their editorial Giulia, Damiano and Ariane summarize the key insights and provide an outlook an future research areas and emerging frontiers.
The special issue features:
39 articles from Europe, the United States, China, Chile, Mexico, India, and Vietnam
Individual country studies and cross-country comparisons, including one meta-analysis
Individual factors from childhood, young adulthood, middle adulthood, and later life stages
Inequalities by gender, social class and caste, race/skin color, and migration background
Contextual factors such as educational reforms, neighborhoods, transport infrastructure, healthcare systems, welfare states, and digitalization
